Recap: Odyssey Charter School Titans vs. Edgewood Red Wolves

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Odyssey Charter School Titans can now relate to. They took a serious blow against the Red Wolves on Wednesday, falling 54-8. While losing is never fun, Odyssey Charter School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while Edgewood is ranked 212th).

Despite the loss, Odyssey Charter School saw an underclassman step up: Reese Florin scored no points along with five rebounds and three steals. Florin has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Odyssey Charter School struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Edgewood pulled down ten offensive rebounds.

Edgewood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shelby Preble, who scored six points along with 13 steals and five assists. Preble is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Preble, who scored 11 points along with two steals.

Odyssey Charter School has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Edgewood, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-5.

Odyssey Charter School does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Edgewood, they will square off against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday.
