Basketball Recap: Lexington Wildcats vs. Irmo Yellow Jackets

Lexington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 66-37 defeat at the hands of the Irmo Yellow Jackets. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-44 back in January.

Irmo can attribute much of their success to Matthew Hopkins, who went 6 of 9 en route to 12 points and five steals. That's the most steals Hopkins has posted since back in December of 2024. Jaden Rivers was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Lexington's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Irmo, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.

Lexington will be playing in front of their home fans against Chapin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lexington is facing Chapin at the right time seeing as Chapin is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Irmo, they are taking a road trip to square off against River Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. River Bluff will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Irmo surely won't give up without a fight.
