Basketball Recap: Whitmire Takes a Loss

If Whitmire was feeling good fresh off their 66-20 takedown of South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Whitmire Wolverines were outmatched by the Pelion Panthers and fell 47-13. The game marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Whitmire lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Harmonie Hunter, who posted four points and three blocks. Hunter is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brantlee Roche, who had no points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Whitmire's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Pelion, they moved to 3-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitmire will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Abbeville at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Pelion also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Swansea at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
