Football Game Preview: Danbury Hatters vs. Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers + Official Tickets

The Danbury Hatters will head out on the road to face off against the Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bridgeport Central took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Danbury, who comes in off a win.

Danbury had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 25-point drubbing they dealt Norwalk on Thursday. The Hatters put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 31-6 win.

Danbury's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB five times. JC Diaz was especially locked on to Norwalk's QB and sacked him twice. Danbury got some further help from Carlos ChaCha: he picked up 0.5 sacks, forced two fumbles, and made eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Bridgeport Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 15-14 heartbreaker at the hands of Westhill.

Danbury will have to contain William Bramwell as he made an impact in Bridgeport Central's last game. He rushed for 84 yards on only seven carries, and also caught one touchdown. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 50 yards. Anajae Kearney helped out on the ground, rushing for 115 yards.

Danbury has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.5 points over those games. As for Bridgeport Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Danbury against Bridgeport Central when the teams last played back in October of 2021, as the team secured a 54-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hatters since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
