Baseball Game Preview: Springfield Southeast Spartans vs. PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays

The Springfield Southeast Spartans will challenge the PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Springfield Southeast is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Springfield Southeast came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Lincoln by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Spartans have suffered against the Railsplitters since April 13, 2017.

Toby Basden made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of T Herrington, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over Jacksonville on Monday.

PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Springfield Southeast, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
