Football Recap: South Platte's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

If Creek Valley wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played South Platte, they should've done a better job of containing Jared Scherbarth. The Blue Knights really took it to the Storm for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-13 win with plenty of help from Scherbarth, who rushed for 86 yards and four scores on only nine carries. He has become a key player for South Platte: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise.

Although Creek Valley took the loss, they still got scores from Alvin Russell and Pj Schultz.

South Platte moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Creek Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. South Platte is set to take on their familiar foe Leyton at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Scherbarth and Colt Van Anne. Meanwhile, Creek Valley will square off against rival Potter-Dix on Friday.
