Baseball Recap: Flagstaff Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Flagstaff let Prescott stack four runs on them in the fourth inning on Saturday but luckily Flagstaff prevailed anyway. The Eagles skirted past the Badgers 7-6. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 7-6 win back in April.

Will Carpenter was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Christian Welker, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Flagstaff was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are 13-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Flagstaff is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Prescott, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-6.

Coming up, Flagstaff will square off against Deer Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.7, the Skyhawks 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Prescott does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
