Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Central Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Green, St. Joseph Central was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Glenwood Tigers 17-1. The high-scoring effort was just what the Flyers needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Blake Medinger made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Medinger was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, St. Joseph Central got a massive performance out of Carson Lyons, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Wesley Neal was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

St. Joseph Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

St. Joseph Central's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Glenwood, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

St. Joseph Central will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
