Baseball Game Preview: Fountain Inn Fury vs. Westside Rams

For the second straight game, Fountain Inn will face off against Westside. Fountain Inn will head out to take on Westside at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fountain Inn has four straight victories, Westside has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Fountain Inn beats Westside with five runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Fountain Inn's pitcher stepped up to hand Westside a 5-0 shutout on Wednesday.

Not much got past Luke Tanner, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Westside off the board. Those seven strikeouts gave Tanner a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dominick Stopa, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Lucas Cannon also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Fountain Inn pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Westside, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
