Recap: La Jolla Vikings vs. Del Norte Nighthawks
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the La Jolla Vikings, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 31-15 bruising from the Nighthawks on Saturday. La Jolla's loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Del Norte can attribute much of their success to Jack Schneider, who threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes. Ryan Remigio and his 112 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Del Norte's victory.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Del Norte's defense and their six sacks. Leading the way was Khalid Farah and his two sacks.
La Jolla's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Del Norte, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
La Jolla does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Del Norte will be playing in front of their home fans against Birmingham at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Birmingham's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests.
