Baseball Game Preview: Alameda Pirates vs. Rangeview Raiders

The Alameda Pirates will square off against the Rangeview Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alameda has 13 straight victories, Rangeview has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Alameda beats Rangeview with 13 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Pirates blew past Fort Lupton 13-3 on Wednesday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by eight runs or more this season.

Alan Chairez was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Vinny Arguello was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Alameda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in 13 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Rangeview's offense. They lost 11-0 to Vista PEAK Prep on Tuesday. Considering the last time the Raiders couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

Alameda's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Rangeview, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Rangeview's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Alameda hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .469.
