Softball Game Preview: Walker Wildcats vs. East Ascension Spartans

The Walker Wildcats will be playing at home against the East Ascension Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Walker comes in on six and East Ascension on five.

Walker's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Northlake Christian. The two-run effort marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, East Ascension was able to grind out a solid win over Parkview Baptist on Monday, taking the game 13-9.

The team relied heavily on Emma Blanchard, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Hartley Berthelot, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Blanchard wasn't the only one working in the hit department: East Ascension kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

East Ascension's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Walker, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.
