League recap: Concord gets lift from Yoos' big bat

3A South Piedmont league recap: 3/27/13

Drew Yoos was on fire this week, as he led 3A South Piedmont with a .611 average, one home run and ten RBIs. Concord went 0-3.

Top honors in the league this week go to Cox Mill, which finished with five wins overall, good for best in the league. The Chargers beat the Spiders 12-2, North Mecklenburg 8-4, A.L. Brown 9-1 and Mallard Creek 11-7.

Central Cabarrus's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 18 hits and nine walks to lead the league in both categories.

Concord scored 51 runs this week to lead the league, but Hickory Ridge is tops in runs scored this year, with 72.

There were 12 hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. Leading the pack was Drew Yoos, who hit .611 by going 11-for-18.

The Spiders' Yoos led the league with 11 hits this week. His 11 hits for the year are eighth in the league, and he boasts a .524 batting average.



Daniel Roman had three hits in three at bats in the Vikings' 3-2 victory over Keystone Oaks on Wednesday. He rounded out his day with zero runs batted in and three runs scored.

Josh Bottenfield drove in four runners on Friday in Cox Mill's 9-1 victory over the Wonders. He went 2-for-3 and scored one run.
