Basketball Recap: Berry Comes Up Short

Berry lost against Ashbrook back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cardinals were dealt a 47-13 defeat at the hands of the Greenwave. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Miracle Bailey and Brynlee Miller, who each put up four points. Lauren Anderson held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Ashbrook's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleah Foster, who posted nine points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna McDowell, who put up eight points and eight rebounds.

Berry's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Ashbrook, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Berry will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West Charlotte at 6:00 p.m. on the 2nd. As for Ashbrook, they have already played their next matchup, a 37-32 win against Bessemer City on the 25th.
