Basketball Recap: Northridge Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Northridge suffered their biggest defeat since December 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 69-48 to the Roosevelt Roughriders. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Roughriders recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Northridge's loss came despite strong showings from Sophia Carbajal and Bailey McGeen. Carbajal dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards, while McGeen went 5 for 6 on her way to 15 points. Carbajal has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 20 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Clementine Darnell, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Northridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roosevelt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryanne Bahnsen-Price, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Bahnsen-Price a new career-high in steals (six). Kyla Hollier was another key player, going 8 of 19 en route to 24 points and eight rebounds.

Northridge's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8. As for Roosevelt, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Northridge and Roosevelt should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Northridge will challenge Wellington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 162 places (105 vs. 267). Northridge will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Meanwhile, Roosevelt (ranked 21st) will meet Greeley Central (ranked 134th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
