Game recap: Hanks High School Football Team wins against Parkland

EL PASO, Texas - Hanks (El Paso, Texas) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat Parkland (El Paso, Texas), 40-13, on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Dominique Carter in the first quarter, the Knights led 24-7 at the half.

Hanks expanded its lead to 24 points entering the fourth quarter. HHS scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by Emilio Noriega.

Michael Torres made a difference for the Matadors. He ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to one on the year.

The Knights' standout player in the win was Noriega. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.



Hanks came in allowing an average of 22.1 points per game this season. The defense really stepped up, holding Parkland below its season average of 19.0 points scored per game.

The loss comes after Parkland defeated San Elizario 49-0 last week. With the win the Knights extended their winning streak to three games. The loss snapped PHS's 2-game winning streak.

Parkland (4-5) will play a 4A Region I District 2 game against Eastlake next week, while Hanks (7-2) will take on Riverside also in a 4A Region I District 2 game.
