Baseball Recap: Empire Find Success

Empire's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Safford Bulldogs by a score of 12-9. The Ravens have beaten the Bulldogs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.

The team relied heavily on Micah Tiggas, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Empire: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Zackary Breinlinger was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two doubles and one RBI.

Empire was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 8-10. As for Safford, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Empire will take on Ironwood Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Safford, they will challenge Coolidge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
