Baseball Game Preview: North Moore Mustangs vs. Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers

The North Moore Mustangs will face off against the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bartlett Yancey took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on North Moore, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, North Moore got the win against Jordan-Matthews by a conclusive 10-4. Considering the Mustangs have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Michael Swarms and John Carre made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Swarms struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Carre struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Swarms has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Swarms scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Carre scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dawson Futrell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Massey, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Bartlett Yancey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Northwood.

Bartlett Yancey's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for North Moore, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

North Moore suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Bartlett Yancey in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can North Moore avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
