Baseball Recap: Chaffey's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Chaffey never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They skirted past the Ontario Jaguars 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 7, 2024.

The result came thanks to Jacob Venegas's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chaffey is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Chaffey saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emilio Alcala, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Chaffey hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Chaffey's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-13. As for Ontario, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Chaffey will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Jaguars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
