Basketball Recap: Richmond Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Connersville

Richmond hadn't done well against Connersville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Richmond Red Devils walked away with a 44-35 win over the Connersville Spartans. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Red Devils' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Spartans are ranked 130th).

Despite the loss, Connersville still got an impressive performance from Hunter Allen, who posted six points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zander McHenry, who had 11 points.

The win made it two in a row for Richmond and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for Connersville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

When Richmond and Connersville next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Richmond will try to stop Westfield's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th. Similarly, Connersville will try to stop Oldenburg Academy's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
