Basketball Recap: Olive Bigham's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Charlotte Country Day School over Providence Day

After flying high against Ravenscroft last Saturday, Charlotte Country Day School came back down to earth. The Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers came up short against the Providence Day Chargers on Saturday, falling 60-36. The defeat continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olive Bigham, who posted 13 points and five rebounds. Bigham has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Margaret Blythe, who scored nine points.

Providence Day got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ginny Anne Dumont out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Dumont a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia O?Malley, who made all 5 shots she took to post 11 points and seven boards.

Charlotte Country Day School's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Providence Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Charlotte Country Day School didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-23 win against Charlotte Christian on the 14th. As for Providence Day, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 69-50 defeat against Cannon on the 14th.
