Basketball Game Preview: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. Chariho Chargers

The Woonsocket Villa Novans will venture away from home to square off against the Chariho Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Woonsocket is looking for their season's first victory.

Last Friday, Woonsocket opened the new year with a less-than-successful 55-47 loss to Cranston West.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Angel Hernandez, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Bissonnette, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Woonsocket smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 83-39, which was the final score in Chariho's tilt against Moses Brown on Friday. The contest marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Woonsocket's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Chariho, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
