Football Recap: Wakefield Comes Up Short

Wakefield extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They were outmatched by the Rolesville Rams and fell 62-7. The Wolverines were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rams from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Grayson Clopton threw for 127 yards and one touchdown. Payton Taylor was his top target, picking up 91 receiving yards and one TD.

As for Rolesville, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 51 points or more this season.

Rolesville was led to victory by Kaleb Williams and Amir Brown. Williams threw for 257 yards and five touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes, while Brown gained 122 total yards. Williams' passing game has become a key predictor of the Rams' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Anthony Roberts was Williams' top target, picking up 42 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
