Football Recap: Wakefield Takes a Loss

Wakefield extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They were outmatched by the Rolesville Rams and fell 62-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 58-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Grayson Clopton threw for 127 yards and one touchdown. Payton Taylor was his top target, picking up 91 receiving yards and one TD.

As for Rolesville, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won three matchups by 51 points or more so far this season.

Rolesville was led to victory by Kaleb Williams and Amir Brown. Williams threw for 257 yards and five TDs while completing 78.9% of his passes, while Brown gained 129 total yards. Brown also rushed for 104 rushing yards, which is notable because the Rams are undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise. Anthony Roberts was Williams' top target, picking up 42 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
