Putnam City grabs the top spot, but be sure to look out for Edmond Memorial, Douglass, Washington and Midwest City.

Stephen Clark left Oklahoma for a school in Las Vegas last year but returned after a month. Douglass is glad to have him without interruption this season, as the Trojans are ranked No. 3.

Head coach: A.D. Burtschi
2011-12 finish: 21-6, Class 6A quarterfinalist

The Pirates return all five starters for coach Burtschi's 40th campaign. Though just two are Division I prospects, he emphasizes that he has "some really excellent high school players." Ronnie Boyce, a 6-foot-3 senior, averaged 15.4 points, just ahead of 5-10 senior David Bush, who averaged 15.3 and led with eight rebounds per game. Other starters are 6-3 senior Richmarr Smith (7.8) and 5-7 junior Dexter Dean (5 points). Orlando Goldsmith, a 6-6 senior, and Bernard Gainey, a 6-4 senior, split the fifth position last year.

3. Douglass (Oklahoma City)
Head coach: Anthony Andrews
2011-12 finish: 29-0, Class 4A state champion for third-consecutive year

The new head coach starts with a nucleus of three returning starters, including All-American guard Stephen Clark. The 5-11, 180-pounder, who had a brief flirtation with Quest Academy, had a sensational junior year, averaging 29.3 points (with a high of 65), 13 assists and 8 rebounds. He poured in 40 points in the state title game. Other returning starters are Clark's younger brother, Deondre Clark, a 6-3, 235-pound junior who averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks, and 6-foot senior DeAngelo Smith, who averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. They will get plenty of help from 6-foot senior Travon Threatt, who averaged 21.6 points and 9 rebounds at Centennial (Oklahoma City), 6-5 senior Glenn Banks, 6-5 sophomore Aaron McKinney, 6-3 junior Isaiah Shaputis and 6-5 freshman Patrick McKaufman, who is the starting varsity football quarterback.

4. Washington (Tulsa)
Head coach: Joe Redmond
2011-12 finish: 22-4

The lone returning starter is University of Georgia recruit Juwan Parker, a 6-4 senior who averaged 22 points and 10 rebounds last year. Kevin Sims, a 6-1 junior, sat out much of last year after transferring, but he has great speed and is an excellent shooter. Chris Miller (6-5, 265) provides strength inside after moving up from the freshman team where he averaged 13 points, 11 rebounds and 3.5 blocks. Senior point guard Myles Clark, who averaged 10 points and 3 assists, also adds great speed to the Hornets' attack.

The 5-9 Neal averaged 11 points while leading the team with 113 assists and 85 steals. Returning junior starters are 5-9 Torey Noel (9.5) and 6-0 Kesean Brown (7 points), who is the team's best defender. Another junior, 6-1 Louis Parker, also will fit well into the Bombers' pressing, trapping defense.
