Softball Recap: Spring Valley Beats Tippecanoe for Their Fourth Straight Win

Spring Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They blew past the Tippecanoe Red Devils 11-5. Considering the Timberwolves have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Riley Hedrick made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Hedrick was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kate Spry was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Turner, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Spring Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Spring Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tippecanoe, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-3.

Looking ahead, Spring Valley will challenge Wellston at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Tippecanoe, they will take on Bloom-Carroll in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Devils 2.3, the Bulldogs 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
