Football Recap: Mater Dei Piles Up the Points Against Harrisburg + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mater Dei). They blew past the Harrisburg Bulldogs, posting a 52-21 win.

Mater Dei found their leader in sophomore Hunter Hochbaum, who threw for 316 yards and six touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 40 yards and one score. Those 316 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Hochbaum. Bodie Brockmeier helped out on the ground, rushing for 89 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mater Dei's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Justin Hilmes, Lydon Barwick, and Kody Huels, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Mater Dei's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Harrisburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Mater Dei will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Macomb at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bombers' defense has only allowed 10.5 points per game this season, so the Knights' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Harrisburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Massac County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
