Football Preview: Bullard Knights vs. Frontier Titans
The Bullard Knights are on the road again on Friday to play the Frontier Titans at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Bullard took their matchup with ease, bagging a 45-8 win over Edison. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by 31 points or more this season.
Bullard's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Franklin, who threw for 219 yards and a touchdown while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Devon Laney also helped with three touchdowns in total.
Meanwhile, Frontier waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 win over the Golden Hawks.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Frontier to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brady Campbell, who threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Malcolm Watkins was Campbell's top target, picking up 99 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Frontier didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rj Green and Mekhai Watkins. Watkins has been hot , having also posted at least one defended passe the last five times he's played. Nate Espericueta was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Frontier has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories were due in large part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.8 points per game. As for Bullard, their record is now 7-3.
Things could have been worse for Bullard, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 24-7 loss to Frontier in their previous meeting back in September of 2023. Thankfully for Bullard, Brycen Cael Tablit (who picked up 41 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
