Softball Recap: Atwater Snaps 11-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Atwater dropped their record down to 16-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Merced Bears. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Falcons haven't been shut out since back in February.

Kylie Medina was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

As for Merced, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games.

Like Atwater, Merced also got a great game from a two-way player: Annalise Ramirez. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Ramirez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Ramirez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Haiden Priddell, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Atwater wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 16-0 win against El Capitan on the 10th. As for Merced, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-5 victory against Los Banos on the 10th.
