Basketball Recap: East vs. East Liverpool Potters
East pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 78-62 bruising from East Liverpool. While losing is never fun, East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Potters are ranked 130th).
Despite the loss, East still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Mccray, who scored 32 points. That was a full 51.6% of East's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Colon, who scored ten points.
East has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for East Liverpool, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.
East will head out on the road to face off against the Fighting Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for East Liverpool, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Aviators at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
