Volleyball Recap: Horicon Comes Up Short

Horicon was the 3-0 winner over Dodgeland when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Marshmen fell 3-1 to the Trojans on Tuesday. While the Marshmen didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 25-20 in the first set.

Horicon started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-23, 25-10, 25-11.

Despite the loss, Horicon saw an underclassman step up: freshman Leah Holl had 12 digs and two aces. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Holl.

Horicon has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Dodgeland, their victory ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 13-11.

Horicon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Randolph on the 9th. As for Dodgeland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Rio on the 11th.
