Football Recap: Selma Comes Up Short

Selma fell victim to Porterville and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Panthers 41-0. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 690th, while the Panthers are ranked 322nd).

Malakai De Leon threw for 38 yards while completing 71.4% of his passes. Nico Torres was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards.

Mark Salinas had a dynamite game For Porterville., rushing for 190 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries, while also picking up 96 receiving yards and two TDs. Salinas really tore up the turf during one magnificent 84-yard run. Another player making a difference was Ethan Enriquez, who threw for 140 yards and three touchdowns.

Selma now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Porterville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Selma is taking a road trip to square off against Dinuba at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Porterville, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Highland at 7:30 p.m. on the 18th.
