Baseball Recap: Calhoun Academy Wins Going Away Against Columbus Christian Academy

Calhoun Academy's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over the Columbus Christian Academy rams. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.

Carsen Stegall was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Layton Logan was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lane Watts, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Calhoun Academy will welcome West Memphis Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Memphis Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Calhoun Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Columbus Christian Academy, they will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
