La Serna had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the St. Paul Swordsmen on Tuesday as the La Serna Lancers made off with an 8-2 victory. For the Lancers, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Swordsmen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Karina Torres looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Apodaca, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. What's more, she also posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mikaela Galicia, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Serna will challenge Mission Viejo on Thursday. As for St. Paul, they will square off against Sonora at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
