Softball Recap: Dysart Demons vs. Goldwater Bulldogs

Dysart was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They suffered a rough 22-6 loss at the hands of the Goldwater Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Dysart of the 13-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

For Goldwater's part, Micaela De La Torre was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits (she also only allowed one walk). De La Torre was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Goldwater got a massive performance out of Faith Pederson, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Pederson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Johanna Hampton, who scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Dysart's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Goldwater, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Dysart will play host again on Tuesday to welcome Cortez, where first pitch is scheduled at 3:45 p.m. As for Goldwater, they will head out on the road to challenge Estrella Foothills at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams will come into the contest having just posted big wins, so someone is set to suffer a big change in fortunes.
