Baseball Game Preview: San Gorgonio Spartans vs. Colton Yellowjackets

San Gorgonio is 1-9 against Colton since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Yellowjackets at 3:45 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

San Gorgonio is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Jurupa Hills, falling 10-1.

San Gorgonio saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Edgar Soto, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Colton's offense. They fell 4-0 to Rialto on Friday. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Jason Alvarado was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Kyle Mejia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Colton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for San Gorgonio, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

San Gorgonio couldn't quite get it done against Colton in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 5-2. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
