Preview: Ingram Moore Warriors vs. Llano Yellowjackets
The Ingram Moore Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Llano Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
Ingram Moore pushed their score all the way to 41 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a serious blow against Blanco, falling 68-41. While losing is never fun, Ingram Moore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 715th, while Blanco is ranked 327th).
Ingram Moore might have lost, but man, Kye Hightower was a machine: he rushed for 232 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per carry, and also picked up 37 receiving yards. Hightower's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Zephaniah Priddy also helped out as he racked up 100 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Llano had to suffer through a rough 55-24 loss at the hands of Blanco. Llano was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-10.
Despite their defeat, Llano saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Luke Davis, who threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Charlie White, who picked up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Ingram Moore's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Blanco, Randolph, and Cole. As for Llano, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Ingram Moore has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 233.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Llano struggles in that department as they've been averaging 178.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Ingram Moore took a serious blow against Llano when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 49-6. Will Ingram Moore have more luck at home instead of on the road?
