Football Recap: Brandon Stevens' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Toombs County over Rome + How To Watch

In Friday's Canine Competition, Toombs County didn't have enough. They lost 49-28 to the Rome Wolves on Friday. The Bulldogs were up 21-7 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Toombs County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brandon Stevens, who picked up 156 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Toombs County also got help from Gavin Fletcher, who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.

Aidan McPherson was nothing short of spectacular for Rome: he threw for 342 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 47 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave McPherson a new career-high in passer rating (143). Jeremy Winston was another key player, picking up 94 receiving yards and one TD.

Having lost for the first time this season, Toombs County fell to 3-1. As for Rome, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Toombs County has already played their next game, a 59-7 win against Charlton County on the 12th. As for Rome, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 31-14 victory against East Paulding on the 12th.
