Baseball Recap: Ashley Takes a Loss

Ashley's tournament run continued when they took on West Johnston on Tuesday. The Screaming Eagle fell 8-4 to the Wildcats.

Tanner Berry made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Ashley's loss dropped their record down to 16-3. As for West Johnston, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6.

Ashley and West Johnston should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Screaming Eagle (ranked second) will meet Grimsley (ranked 46th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Ashley 2.8, the Whirlies 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, West Johnston will challenge Union Pines at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (87 vs. 329).
