Baseball Game Preview: Buena Bulldogs vs. Oaks Christian Lions

The Buena Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Oaks Christian Lions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Buena has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Oaks Christian will come in with three straight victories.

On Thursday, Buena came up short against Pacifica and fell 8-3.

Gabriel Alonzo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Moreno, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Oaks Christian took on Santa Paula on Thursday. The Lions narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cardinals 3-2. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Dane Disney, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

Buena's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Oaks Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.

Buena couldn't quite get it done against Oaks Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
