Softball Recap: Bend Has No Trouble Against Summit

Bend's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Summit Storm. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lava Bears considering their one-run performance the match before.

Taylor Aldrich was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Janelle Guiney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Lauren Glasser was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Bend kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.

Bend is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Summit, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bend is set to face off against their familiar foe Mountain View at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Summit will square off against rival Caldera at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
