Recap: Central Davidson Spartans vs. Oak Grove Grizzlies
It was a good run, but the Central Davidson Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 67-43 defeat at the hands of Oak Grove. Central Davidson has struggled against Oak Grove recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Central Davidson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Abby Thomas. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points. Thomas' trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Elliott, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Oak Grove was led to victory by Kalin Favreau and Trista Charles. Favreau scored 13 points along with three steals, while Charles scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Charles is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cora Hadley, who scored 12 points.
Central Davidson's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Oak Grove, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Central Davidson will take on North Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (North Davidson is ranked 180th, while Central Davidson is ranked 168th). As for Oak Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Montgomery Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
