Baseball Recap: Aucilla Christian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Rutherford last Monday, Aucilla Christian came back down to earth. The Aucilla Christian Warriors fell just short of the Franklin County Seahawks by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 4-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2019.

Collin Campbell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Aucilla Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Mills, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Aucilla Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Franklin County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aucilla Christian will face off against Riverside Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Franklin County, they will challenge Rutherford at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rutherford has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.91 runs per game on average), something Franklin County will no doubt try to take advantage of.
