Softball Recap: University Lab Starts Season with Win at Home

University Lab took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They blew past the Liberty Magnet Patriots 25-6. The Cubs haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Anna Kate Ruebsamen and Morgan Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Ruebsamen fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3, while Jackson scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Jackson has posted since back in March of 2024. London Harvey was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

University Lab always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .812. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .667 that Liberty Magnet posted.

Coming up, University Lab will be taking part in a tournament against St. John at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty Magnet, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Northeast at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
