Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Indian Beats Mesa Vista for Their Fourth Straight Win

Santa Fe Indian had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 57-33 margin over the Mesa Vista Trojans. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Daneen Herrera was nothing short of spectacular: she went 7 for 10 on her way to 17 points and three steals. Kaydence Riley was another key player, putting up nine points along with five assists and four steals.

Santa Fe Indian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tana Lopez, who posted seven points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Boies, who had five points and four steals.

Santa Fe Indian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.7 points. As for Mesa Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Fe Indian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on West Las Vegas at 6:30 p.m. on January 21st. As for Mesa Vista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dulce at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mesa Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season.
