Basketball Recap: Poston Butte Gets the Win

Poston Butte had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 59-51 victory over the Sahuarita Mustangs.

Poston Butte found their leader in sophomore Rexford Danso, who shot 60% from the field to rack up 21 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Zander Blomme, who posted eight points.

Sahuarita's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ruben Villalba, who went 7-for-14 en route to 18 points. Armani Bennett was another key player, shooting 56% from the field on his way to 11 points.

Sahuarita is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Poston Butte didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-50 win against Pueblo on the 28th. As for Sahuarita, they have also already played their next matchup, a 62-42 victory against Globe on the 28th.
