Basketball Game Preview: Holmes Aces vs. First Flight Nighthawks

The Holmes Aces will head out on the road to face off against the First Flight Nighthawks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Holmes took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They escaped with a win against Pasquotank County by the margin of a single free throw, 41-40.

Meanwhile, First Flight put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Hertford County for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-25 win. The Nighthawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 35 points or more this season.

First Flight's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Holmes, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6.

Things could have been worse for Holmes, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-24 loss to First Flight when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Holmes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
