Basketball Recap: Zenai Ferebee's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Parkdale over Eleanor Roosevelt

If Parkdale was riding high fresh off their 65-5 takedown of High Point last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Parkdale Panthers fell just short of the Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders by a score of 47-45 on Monday. The Panthers have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Parkdale's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zenai Ferebee, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 17 points and seven boards. Ferebee's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Hannah Youn was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Parkdale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Eleanor Roosevelt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but McKenzie D'Antignac led the charge by going 6 for 12 en route to 15 points along with five boards and three steals. D'Antignac is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sakairah Sterling, who posted 16 points.

Parkdale's defeat dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Eleanor Roosevelt, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parkdale will square off against Bowie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eleanor Roosevelt, they will take on Wise at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
