Basketball Recap: Riverton Takes a Loss

Riverton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 87-78 to the Corner Canyon Chargers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (66), the Silverwolves still had to take the loss.

Corner Canyon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryton Valdes, who went 12 for 21 on his way to 28 points and six boards. Those 28 points gave Valdes a new career-high. Noah Bendinger was another key player, going 10 of 19 en route to 25 points and three steals.

Riverton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Corner Canyon, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverton will welcome Herriman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Herriman will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Riverton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Corner Canyon, they will host Bingham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Corner Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.4 points per game this season.
