Saddleback came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-2 to the Bolsa Grande Matadors. The Roadrunners' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Joaquin Cornejo was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Cornejo wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Wright, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Saddleback's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-6-1. As for Bolsa Grande, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season.

While Saddleback had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
